The current way of producing food products is particularly damaging to the ecosystem and plays a key role in climate change, as global food production:
We must pursue new sustainable production methods that meet the growing demand for nutritious and healthy food, without destroying the natural resources and subsoil that we will bequeath to future generations. In our greenhouse, we use hydroponics, an environmentally friendly method of growing plants outside the soil known since ancient times, to produce products all year round with consistent quality and high nutritional value, based on the principles of sustainability, such as:
The production process begins with the automatic planting of the seeds in small pots filled with peat, which, after being placed in the propagation chamber and then in the nursery area, are repositioned in the moving gutters system (MGS), where they remain until the plants are harvested. These gutters are spaced apart during the growth of the plants so that the latter are given the space required in order to be fully grown when there will be harvested. The roots of the plants are automatically watered with a nutrient solution containing only inorganic compounds, i.e. the same natural nutrients that they take up from the soil. The recirculated nutrient solution is collected in tanks and reused after it has been enriched with the consumed nutrients.
With carefully selected quality seeds from natural crosses of varieties, certified non-GMO and using the hydroponic cultivation practice, we ensure constant quality and quantity of lettuce throughout the year.
Our salads are rich in vitamins A, C, E and K, riboflavin (B2), folic acid, beta-carotene, antioxidants, potassium, manganese, chromium (III), fibre and sulforaphane, thus exhibiting anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-microbial properties, while contributing significantly to the reduction of cholesterol absorption by the body.
